H2O For Life



Happy Monday morning!

Today I am going to keep this as simple as humanly possible. There is one very easy thing that I want everyone to start doing, right away! Not tomorrow, not next week, but just as soon as you have read this post, get yourself to the kitchen, and pour yourself a pint of water.

The vast majority of us don’t drink anywhere near the correct amount of water that we are supposed to. Many of us think we are hydrated, but I am almost certain, most of you aren’t. So, This is your task for the week (and for the rest of your life).

Make sure you have a pint sized glass handy (calm down lads, it’s not going to be beer i’m afraid), at home, in the office, and your task for the day/week, is to drink 5 pints of fresh water every day. Sounds easy, but most of you will forget to do this.

Start the day (before you have your tea or coffee) with a nice cold pint of water, then maybe have your caffeinated beverage. Continue in this vain for the rest of the day, aim for 1 pint of water every 1-2 hours and you are on to a winner. Many of you might be worried about drinking water too late in the day, and then needing the loo throughout the night. If you start this process early (i.e. when you first wake up), you should be done with your water consumption early evening/late afternoon.

Some of the side effects caused by drinking plenty of water:

  • More energy
  • Better Mood
  • Less stress
  • Better performance
  • Healthier looking skin
  • Skin elasticity
  • Less joint and muscle stiffness
  • Clearing of toxins from the body
  • Better digestion
  • Better immune health
  • Weight loss (often we eat food, as signals for hydration are confused as hunger signals)
  • More toilet breaks (this is a good thing)
  • Look sexier (this is my favourite)

That’s a pretty impressive list if you ask me, and that’s from simply drinking water. Now ask yourself, Am I drinking enough?

It’s the little things that we do that will make a huge difference. You don’t need to go on some crazy, food restricted diet. Start with this simple task, and see, by doing the things that nature intended, we can start to feel more human again.
